Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a safe, minimally invasive procedure in which a thin, lighted camera (hysteroscope) is gently inserted into the uterus to examine the uterine cavity. At EVA IVF Women’s Centre, hysteroscopy plays a vital role in both diagnosing and treating uterine conditions that may impact fertility.
By offering a clear view of the uterus, hysteroscopy helps detect abnormalities such as fibroids, polyps, and adhesions, and in many cases, these can be treated during the same procedure. This not only saves time but also enhances the chances of conception naturally or through assisted fertility treatments.
When is Hysteroscopy Needed?
Doctors at EVA IVF Women’s Centre may recommend hysteroscopy in the following situations:
-
Unexplained uterine bleeding – To identify causes of heavy, irregular, or prolonged menstrual bleeding.
-
Recurrent pregnancy loss or infertility – To detect and manage uterine abnormalities like fibroids, polyps, or scar tissue.
-
Suspected structural issues – To directly inspect the uterine cavity for congenital or acquired abnormalities.
-
IUD-related issues – To confirm placement, retrieve, or remove an intrauterine device if its position is uncertain.
-
Pre-IVF assessment – To ensure the uterine cavity is healthy and ready for embryo implantation.
