Diagnostic hystero laparoscopy is a medical procedure used to evaluate conditions related to infertility in the female reproductive organs. The procedure involves the insertion of a thin fiber-optic cable with a camera at the end, known as a laparoscope, into the womb. Diagnostic hystero laparoscopy may be recommended to look at the outside of the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and internal pelvic area. The procedure can be used for both diagnostic (looking only) and operative (looking and treating) purposes. Diagnostic hysteroscopy is used to look inside the uterine cavity.
